Welcome to this issue of Management MOMENTUM. Since our last issue, much has
happened with the management team. A number of new staff and faculty members have joined us.
I am particularly pleased to have My new assistant, Marvis Allen, on board along with Skipper
Farr, Gary Freeman, Melissa Kerlev, Dr. Grant Miles, and Dr Wayne Stewart. At the same time,
we shortly will say farewell to Patty Havelka. She will graduate with her MBA.. Patty has put this
newsletter together under the direction of Dr. Barbara Hassell, our editor, and has served as our
student advisor as well. She will he sorely missed by the team and our students. We wish her the
best of luck.
We think you'll agree that this issue has much to offer Don't miss the piece on Dean Cosier
from OU who visited us in the fall term as our Distinguished Visiting Scholar Our Small Business
Institute is in transition and Dr Lou Ponthieu has the news on that front. The "KUDOS
KORNER" provides only a sample of the many successes we have enjoyed since our last issue,
and don't miss the EDS Challenge article that notes the quality of our students at UNT This issue
also features stories on Dr. Elvis Stephens, a professor I'm sure that many of our alumni will enjoy
reading about, along with the profile of Mr. Timothy Ramsey, an outstanding alumnus of our
program.
Finally, we are fortunate to have our Provost, Dr. Blaine Brownell, contribute appropriate
" Thoughts From Above " for our readers. We appreciate his input and hope our story on the
success of the new management curriculum in some way partially answers the challenge Dr.
Brownell puts forth. I concur with him - please let us know how we are doing in our quest to be
the best.
