COURSE OBJECTIVES

  1. Learning about basic computer concepts of cyberspace, hardware, software, privacy, security, ethics, emerging issues, etc.
  2. Learning how to create electronic presentations using POWER POINT.
  3. Learning how to build web pages and web sites using FRONTPAGE.
  4. Preparing for future business courses by helping you become proficient in EXCEL.
  5. Learning how to build simple Windows applications using VB 2005.

STEPS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THE ASSIGNMENTS

  1. Buy the textbooks - read them before class - bring them to class - make notes in them. [Please note that it is UNT policy that all students buy their own textbooks for the classes that they take. The University does not provide textbooks for students. Paying Tuition and buying textbooks is part of going to college] .
  2. Work thru the chapter tutorials paying close attention to what you are doing.
  3. Solve the chapter assignments.
  4. If you have trouble with 3. above; go to the BCIS 2610 help labs. You must take your step 2. from above with you, and you must also take your textbook with you to the tutor OR THE LAB TUTORS WILL NOT HELP YOU ! Your ticket to get help from the tutors is the ‘work thru’ of the chapter tutorial. The chapter tutorials are easy and can be done with a minimum of effort. If a student does not put in the effort to complete the tutorial, then they will receive NO HELP from the tutors. Any tutor caught helping a student that has not presented the appropriate ‘chapter walk thru’ ticket will be terminated.

BCIS 2610 is not a difficult course if you follow the above steps. Students that have a difficult time usually do not buy and read the texts [step 1], let alone work thru the chapter tutorials [step 2].

Students that follow the *4 steps* should make an A or B in the course. Students that do not, usually flunk or drop!

Be smart - follow the steps - make an A!
