Welcome!  This course examines some of the issues programmers must deal with when constructing an information-intensive, visually oriented, multimedia business application.  To apply the principles of good user interface design, you will build a semester team project using a visual-programming tool called Microsoft Visual Basic.NET 2005, Professional Edition.  Required prerequisites include 4610.  Because of the multimedia requirements, you should have completed, or be co-registered for, BCIS 3615.  You need to be familiar with Microsoft Windows XP.  Finally, this course assumes you have prior experience with some form of BASIC.

REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS & Other Materials (available from many bookstores, and from Amazon.com):

Boehm, Anne. Murach’s Visual Basic 2005.  Murach (2006), pb, ISBN: 1890774383 (B).

Tidwell, Jenifer.  Designing Interfaces.  O’Reilly (2005), pb., ISBN  0596008031 (T)

At least one key drive (I would suggest a capacity of 256 MB).

Optional Resources (wait until later to buy)

Jennings, Roger. Expert One-on-One Visual Basic 2005 Database Programming.  Wrox (2005), pb, ISBN 0-7645-7678-X.
