Membership Information

Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest national recognition a student in business can receive in an undergraduate, master's or doctoral program at a school accredited by the AACSB-The International Association for Management Education. Of the 1,400 institutions with degree programs in business, less than 350 are accredited by AACSB and have chapters of Beta Gamma Sigma.

Undergraduate/Master's Requirements

To be eligible for membership, the academic ranking of those being considered must place them in the upper 7 percent of the junior class, upper 10 percent of the senior class, or upper 20 percent of the graduating master's class. While almost 300,000 students receive bachelor's or master's degrees in business each year, only about 15,000 students are elected to membership in Beta Gamma Sigma.

Doctoral Requirements

To qualify as a doctoral student, a candidate must have successfully completed all requirements for the doctoral degree.

Faculty Requirements

As you may know, this is an honor bestowed upon only a select segment of the business faculty and professionals across the country. But if you wait to join BGS as a faculty member, you will not be eligible until you achieve tenure. This would delay your invitation to join the Society for several years.
