"In DSCI 2710, my first statistics course at the University of North Texas, Dr. Jerry Dake came to speak to my class about the opportunity to earn a degree in Decision Science. This generally unknown degree would involve statistics, data analysis, and some hard work; however, I did not realize the doors it would open for my future career. I had all the intentions of pursuing Marketing as my degree, but once I began to talk more to my professors and fellow peers, Decision Science was definitely a great idea. Within the coursework of Decision Science, I could still pursue an emphasis in marketing (other students can choose management or BCIS as their emphasis). None the less, I learned why data and analysis are so crucial to understanding business problems and providing business solutions; and the best part is, Decision Science can be applied to all functions of business.
Within my classes, I had the opportunity to meet Masters and PhD students, which helped me learn how I could apply our degree to the 'Real World.' I encourage all students to learn more and to check out the different degree programs and opportunities a degree in Decision Science can provide. "
