Dr. Chuck Bimmerle recently earned the status of lifetime Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) This designation demonstrafes Dr. Bimmerle's professional capabilities in the National Association of Purchasing Management, a world leader in establishing standards and maintaining professional
standards pertaining to purchasing, materials, research, and education.
Dr. Vicki Goodwin and co-author Dr Jerry Wafered of UTA recently received the "Best Paper
Award" for the LEADERSHIP QUARTERLY. 1994. The paper, entitled "A cognitive
interpretation of transnational and transformational leadership theories," was chosen through a
rigorous two-stage process by the editorial board.
Drs. Lynn Johnson and Lou Ponthieu recently received a $28,000 research grant from the Paris,
Texas District Office of the Texas Department of Transportation to investigate purchasing and
vendor acquisition strategies for the District. Dr. Ponthieu is also a recent recipient of the
President's Council Service Award.
Dr. Mary Thibodeaux, a faculty member in the Management Department for 19 years, was
appointed the Associate Dean of Students Services for the College of Business beginning August
1994. Dr. Thibodeaux is also the recent recipient of two prestigious awards - The J.H. Shelton
Excellence in Teaching Award and the President's Council Teaching Award.
Dr. Richard White was one of 15 faculty members chosen from universities throughout the state to participate in the "Academic Excellence Project" of the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC), an association of 32 Texas public universities. He worked with the University of Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico to develop a new business curriculum to prepare their students for the twenty-first century.
