MESSAGES

MGMT 3820

11 Dec 2007 - Grades

I have all of the grades updated and posted (link below). Please read the explanation below BEFORE you email me with questions. If you think there is a mistake, let me know ASAP (with documentation) so we can rectify the information this week.

Exams - two are posted with a possible 330 points
(NOTE: For students who lost points for "ID errors" on EX2 those points are added back since I didn't take points off for similar "ID errors" on EX1.)
One remaining worth up to 165 points (EX3).

Activities/Assignments - four are posted with a possible 40 points total.

11 Best Quizzes (up to 56 points if you got the bonus on Quiz 7) - this is blank as it will be calculated after the last required class meeting day (in case we have any more quizzes).

ATT Points (up to 40) - points for attendance are based on the quizzes
If you took 8 or more quizzes or had Excused Absences (EX) for 8 or more then you received full points (8 x 5 = 40). If you were absent (AB), then 5 points were deducted for each missed quiz/absence below 8.

All that remains is Exam 3. The gray columns are the ones you will add up to estimate your points.

Point Ranges for Overall Semester Grades

A = 567-630
B = 504-566
C = 441-503
D = 378-440
F = 377 and below

4 Dec 2007 - Grades

Here a more detailed explanations of the five Process Types from Chapter 18. I will answer any questions about these or Inventory on Thursday during the review.

Click here to download the Process Type document. This file has a "picture" of the process types on a continuum with various characteristics as well as a written description of each that you can use to match to the "picture."

Click here to download the Hierarchy of Planning document (same document passed out hard copy earlier this semester).

Don't forget to turn in your final question assignment by Thursday (i.e. beginning of class). I will take them on email IF the file is saved per the instructions below (see 10 Oct 2007). If I can't open the file, I can't give you credit.

29 Nov 2007 - Chapter 17/Chapter 18 outlines

Make sure you download and bring both documents to class. I don't think Chapter 17 should take more than an hour or so to read and take notes. It is very straightforward. Spend more time on Chapter 18 since it will be new for most of you. It is very important that  you read and take notes for next class.
Click here to download the Chapter 17 (Info Mgmt) outline.

Click here to download the Chapter 18 (OM/Services) outline.

REMINDER: I will take the Question Assignment early (8 questions - 2 per topic) but you have until Dec. 6 to turn it in and get up to full credit. Email me early if you have questions about the instructions. Don't give up these points.

3 Nov 2007 - Exam Information

I have sent the information via EagleMail and will respond to those who sent a message by Friday.

30 Oct 2007 - Chapter 12 Outline to Download

Make sure you download and bring this document to class next time. Here's the outline for those whose Eagle Mail didn't come through.
Click here to download the outline.

The document below is the same document as I passed out in class without the typo.

Click here for further clarification of the Question Assignment due on Thurs (1 Nov).

11 Oct 2007 - Chapter 7 Outline to Download

Make sure you download and bring this document to class next week. It's probably a good idea to read it and the chapter, too. ;o)  Click here to download.

10 Oct 2007 - Saving Files for MGMT 3820

Due to incompatibility between MS Word® 2003 and MS Word® 2007, all files for this class must be saved in the MS Word 2003 format.  Please follow the instructions below to save all files in this compatible format.

If you have Office® 2007, then when saving the file, choose “File”, “Save As”, at the bottom (below where you would type the file name) there is a drop-down list next to “Save as Type”.

This usually defaults to whatever file-type and software-version (like Word 2007) you are currently using on the computer.

Click on the down arrow to the right of “Save as Type,” and it will bring up a variety of other file types.

Select the “Word 97-2003” option, you will still be able to open the file and so will I. This is a simple, but necessary procedure that works well to ensure compatibility. This same basic procedure will also work for the other MS products such as Excel so you all can swap files for your group homework assignments.

28 Sept 2007

For those of you who didn't turn in the Question Writing assignment, please bring these to class on Tuesday (Oct. 2). You need to have one question for each chapter on Exam 1 (Ch 1-5). I prefer that you type them but you can had write them if your handwriting is legible. The questions can not be the same or similar to those available for review via the book and website. The questions need to be "multiple choice" or "matching" style questions. No T/F and no Short answer/essay.

You can email them to me if you want or bring a hard copy on Tuesday.

Fall 2007

Welcome to the MGMT 3820 course website. I will use this website to post information that is specifically related to class and may help in your class preparation. I will also post information on the site that I think will be interesting to you. You are responsible for checking this website and WebCT (if used) on a regular basis. Outside of our class times I will primarily communicate with you via WebCT (if used) and this website since I can send the same information to everyone in class. In addition, make sure yyour Eagle Mail account is activated and that you are checking it or have it forwarded to a current account. I may send an Eagle Mail message to the class or an individual. Please make sure you have space available in your email in-box at all times to accept new emails and add me RogersP@unt.edu as a trusted email address so you will receive messages from me.
