Warren is a Professor in the Department of Management at the University of North Texas and director of the Group for Organizational Effectiveness (GOE), a UNT consulting operation. Specialty areas of consulting and applied research include: managing change, designing and managing team-based organizations, entrepreneurship, and organizational evaluation. The emphasis of his consulting is to design effective and efficient organization and team structures around business processes that deliver value to the customer. Often this involves clustering employees with diverse competencies together to do the work. His research on diversity and work team performance was reported in the Wall Street Journal, June 1993, in the New York City Newsday, July 1993, The Economist, Aug. 1993, and Fortune, July 1994. From 1993-1995 he was a senior organizational design consultant for Texas Instruments Defense Systems.

For over fifteen years, he has applied organizational development intervention and evaluation techniques for many organizations such as: Amoco Production, Fina Oil & Chemical, Johnson & Johnson Medical, Chevron, Texas Instruments Defense Systems, General Dynamics, NCH, US Coast Guard, United Way, Trammel Crow, American Television & Communications.

Warren has a Ph.D. in organizational behavior and development from the University of Oklahoma, Masters degrees in counseling and public relations, and a Bachelors degree in international political science and economics. He has published and presented over fifty applied research articles in national and international journals and professional meetings.
